My wife and I with our son's family, including grandkids shared an incredible week at the lodge. The lodge was very comfortable, quiet, fantastic views, and most relaxing porch suited for an early morning cup of coffee and a good book. Also very mesmerizing during the evening. Of course our weather all week long was great, not typical Sitka. The bike path across the street stretches from the end of the road just past the bear compound to the south and to town, nice for walking and biking. We rented bikes so biked to town, the bears, and trail heads, all convenient from the lodge. The tide pool across the street was also a great attraction for our grandkids. In bad weather the lodge would be cozy. We definitely will rent it again when we return to Sitka.
Beautiful Place on Earth
I enjoyed my stay here immensely. This land you have is quite amazing. So much of nature to see and impressive without even leaving. The lodge was perfect. I can see there was a lot of work put into making this happen. Many thanks for sharing this beautiful place on Earth.
Thank you for having us in your beautiful space! Love the hot tub and sauna. Seeing whales from the hot tub was pretty spectacular. We also appreciate the second set of firewood!
Beautiful Place to Stay
Thank you for a beautiful place to stay for our nephews wedding. The bride has worked here on fishing boats for a few years. Now she's a captain. The ceremony was actually on a boat right on Silver Bay. Some saw whales and others heard them in the dark in the hot tub. The view is spectacular. I sat by the Windows every chance I got. We hiked Mosquito trail and Sunny Harbor View trail with our Anchorage and Sitka cousins. Took lots of pictures and had lunch at the hut with 360 degree views. Thanks again. Karen.
Beautiful home in a spectacular setting.
Beautiful home in a spectacular setting. Easy access to walks, hikes. On the Community Bus line to get into town or Fortress of the Bears. Host was very helpful.
Unique, One Of A Kind Cabin! Incredible Views, Clean, Quiet and Private!
WOW, what a place. Clean and private, no other houses, roads wires etc can be seen. Just mountains and ocean. Many Whales were seen. Sea Lions too Watching the fishing boats with their bright lights come and go was a real pleasure! Quiet and private and surrounded by millions of acres of National Forest made for a one of a kind experience. Would recommend this cabin to everyone!
Nice location, views. Spacious living room, functional kitchen. Just needs one more shower.
Piece of Heaven
Just my husband and i in this beautiful home, so peaceful and loved seeing whales in the bay each day. This was our very first visit to Sitka, and did not disappoint, the weather was equally amazing the whole time we were visiting. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us.
We truly enjoyed our visit and plan to return someday! Thanks so much for sharing your little piece of heaven with us! Sincerely, Al and Kathy Sala
My second stay here was even better!
This is my second stay at the Golden Alaskan Lodge and I enjoyed this trip even more than the first. The chalet is warm and spacious with wonderful views of the bay and mountains. This trip we saw sea lions in the bay and eagles perched out front. The chalet is secluded yet close enough to drive or catch a bus into Sitka. The complete kitchen makes cooking easy so we didn't have to eat all our meals in restaurants. There was plenty to do at the chalet for a relaxing evening: hot tubing, sit around the campfire, read, do puzzles, and play board games. Brian was especially helpful in locating a fishing charter at the end of season and getting our catch of fish processed for the trip home. I hope I am lucky enough to return to Sitka and stay a third time at this wonderful chalet.
Beautiful Sitka Getaway
I stayed here for a week with my family to experience the beauty of Alaska. The cabin was perfectly situated to watch eagles and whales from every window. Perched above Whale Park, the cozy cabin was fully equipped with everything you need to feel right at home. The hot tub was fantastic after a day of hiking and fishing. Easy access into town to experience all that Sitka offers. The house had charm and personality. The owners were hospitable and helpful. I had such a great time I can't wait to try their OR cabin on the coast. Thanks for thinking of every detail to make our stay memorable. Kayaking, sight-seeing, hiking, fishing, were amazing. Can't wait to go back!
No better place in Sitka
We spent 6 days at the chalet. What a beautiful location with wonderful views of Silver Bay and mountains. The chalet is rustic in a good way: beautiful woodwork and tastefully decorated. It is spacious, with plenty of room for gathering in the family room or dining area. The view from the upstairs bedroom and soaking tub is an extra bonus. Four bedrooms were more than we could use, a good problem. The chalet is immaculate. We have stayed in vacation rentals before and too often they are a little grungy. I'm a clean freak and was impressed with how spotlessly clean the chalet was. We were too tired to use the hot tub, but enjoyed sitting outside and watching the sea lions. Having a washer and dryer was very helpful, it cut down on the amount of clothes we needed to pack. My husband got his fishing fix and I enjoyed the water and mountain view walking along Sawmill Creek Road. Whale Park is an easy walk down around the corner. I can't imagine a better place to stay in Sitka.
I wish I could give this more than 5 stars! The lodge is absolutely beautiful, fully equipped with everything you could possibly need and more. The views from the lodge itself are breathtaking and being able to watch whales breach and sea lions play whilst relaxing in a cozy chair is an incredible experience. I would highly recommend the Golden Alaska Lodge to anyone visiting Sitka.
The View is Worth the Journey - Absolutly Stunning
My wife and I never expected such a fantastic experience and our children and grandchildren loved every minute. The views from the lodge are breathtaking and my wife saw a Humpback Whale breach in Silver Bay right outside the window within 10 minutes of arrival. The Lodge is very comfortable with every amenity you could want and some that you would never expect to find in an ordinary rental. The owners went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. All we did not need was a TV as there is so much to do and see that we did not turn it on once. Even the grandkids did not bother with it. The natural beauty of the Sitka area is stunning - a magical rain forest.! I highly recommend the vacation destination and the Lodge. Can't wait to get back next year!
Water! Eagles! Did we say water?!
Our party of six loved the Golden Alaska Lodge. Huge windows, hot tub, picnic table, comfy furnishings -- all overlooking a vast expanse of water and underneath a giant nest belonging to momma and papa eagle and their chicks. Thank you for maintaining this property "out the road" -- we wish we could have stayed longer.
It's all about the view!
If you're looking for a peaceful getaway, look no further. The house overlooks Silver Bay and surrounding mountains. The views of the bay were ever-changing as the clouds would roll in and out. One night we even had a pair of humpbacks swim slowly by. We spent each morning and evening watching the eagles. There's even a bald eagle nest right on the property. It is stunning.Inside is comfortable and the hot tub was a treat after a long day of hiking. If you're planning to do a lot of cooking, there are limited pots/pans and BBQ heat is uneven. The fridge was obviously on its last leg (and very loud) but I'd assume that will soon be taken care of.Loved the secluded location but it is a quick drive into town. We would recommend a stay without hesitation.
Huge cabin/house with beautiful views!
We visited Sitka like we normally do for our yearly Mudball softball tournament. Our group was traveling over on the ferry from Juneau. The house fit our group of 6 with ease and had more beds if our group had been a little bit bigger. We didn't get to enjoy the house as much as other groups, but the hot tub at the end of 4 softball games per day was amazing. That was a huge draw for us to rent this space. We were able to sit in the hot tub, enjoy a cold beverage and even caught the northern lights at the beginning of September. Only having one shower was tricky, but we made it work. (There is a huge jacuzzi tub to enjoy). The view from the house to the water is beautiful! There is wi-fi available as you do not have cell service at the house, this can be both a blessing and an annoyance :)
Alaska Lodge, Fantastic!
Our stay in Sitka was accentuated by the tremendous atmosphere we enjoyed in this beautiful chalet owned and managed by Brian Beall. Brian will go out of his way to do whatever he can to make your stay in Sitka is memorable and easy going. He has tremendous knowledge of the Alaskan culture and is willing to take the time to share which helps to make your vacation an involved experience. The front room has two spectacular and different views of mountains and the bay in front of them. Whales and seals are easily seen from the lodge as well as an Eagles nest in the front yard. The fog may roll in and give a completely different look. All this and more can also be enjoyed while in a hot tub. Best vacation rental in Sitka!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, pet owners, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with young children, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.
Beautiful Private Lodge
We stayed at the Golden Alaskan Lodge for a few days in the end of April. The location could not be more perfect for a quite, private, Alaskan experience. The views are incredible from the property. The house itself is clean, professional, and well equipped. My group liked to cook & hang out in hot tubs, so this place was perfect. There is plenty of sleeping room, internet ready tv, and a decent stereo. There are hiking trails connected to the back yard. There is a fire pit and picnic tables. Outside of the amenities, the staff is by far the best part of this lodge. The owner as well as the booking agent were very prompt in answering my questions no matter what time of the day. The owner is especially kind and is obviously committed to helping you maximize your stay whatever your particular needs may be. This puts this lodge in the 5 star category for me. I am a Sitka resident and would recommend this place to anyone who lives in Sitka for a great get away out the road or to any visitor who would like a quieter & less hectic vacation experience. Golden Alaskan Lodge is my top recommended place to stay in Sitka. Thank you!
This home was a great place for a large group of us who were in town for a softball tournament. The kitchen was well equipped and the hot tubs were clean with amazing views.Recommended for: Girls Getaway, Families with Teenagers
What a lovely, relaxing weekend! The peace and quiet of the lodge and surrounding wooded landscape is exactly what you'd hope for in Alaska. During the day, the space is flooded with natural light from the giant windows and sliding doors. This is the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee as you look out the windows or a glass of wine from one of the relaxing hot tubs and watch for whales breaching or bald eagles soaring by. Once the sun sets, the lodge feels extremely cozy and faraway from the world. We enjoyed watching a movie, opening a bottle of wine and making dinner at our own leisurely pace. The decor perfectly sets the tone for the setting. There are so many interesting and unique pieces that make the space feel that much more special. It is the perfect place to disconnect and truly feel separated from the outside world. Aside from the occasional car passing by, the only other visitor we had was a bald eagle, which was a welcome treat! Cell service can be spotty, but with the Wi-Fi it was not a problem. If anything, it was nice to be off the grid for a couple days. The house is conveniently located 10 minutes away from downtown Sitka, so a car is needed; however, once you're inside you may not want to leave at all. For this busy New Yorker, Brian’s quaint and comfortable lodge was the perfect Alaska retreat!Recommended for: Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, People with Disabilities, Romantic Getaway
Golden Alaskan lodge
Great place to stay. Lots of little extras that made our stay more interesting.
Beautiful Remote Experience.
This home is just that, a home. Beautiful, spacious, and fully stocked. Great location for housing out of town guests or for your own get away. My husband and I greatly enjoyed the hot tub, privacy, and the views. This location provides privacy and a quiet stay all while being a short drive to town. Perfect for our honeymoon. Thank you!
Eagles by the back door and ocean, mountains and whales out the front.
We had a wonderful visit to Sitka. The lodging was great--what a view. Eagles by the back door and ocean, mountains and whales out the front. We had pictures of the lodge with whales flipping but were taken from the ocean side. We had two sunny days for whale watching. There was some rain off and on during the other days but just a light jacket was sufficient. We live in South Dakota and everyone thinks if you go to Alaska, you are in snow and it is dark most of the time. It was 50-55 degrees the whole time we were in Sitka and we came home to snow. It was wonderful to have coffee and some breakfast with such a nice room to just relax and visit. Everything worked out fine. Would love to come again. Suggestions - the only thing is there were 5 of us and we didn't figure out how to cover the opening in the upstairs bathroom. We did manage sharing the one shower ok.
We enjoyed our stay at the Lodge. It was the perfect spot for our family gathering. Comfortable with wonderful views. We enjoyed watching the deer grazing on blueberry bushes in the side yard. Thanks!
It doesn't get any better.
When you watch whales when you are sitting at the table drinking coffee. It doesn't get any better. Great place and very comfortable.
What a view!
This place is called a lodge, but it is a beautiful A-frame house that feels like a lodge. The awesome views from everywhere inside helps give it that feeling. The kitchen is fully stocked, not only with cooking essentials but there are spices, coffee filters, coffee, and paper products(usually only dishes, pans, & silverware are supplied). Brian also supplies laundry soap in case you need to do laundry in the washer & dryer that are provided. He truly has thought of everything to make your stay has hassle free as possible. There is a gas grill available, also. The property is absolutely breathtaking with views of the mountains, an awesome waterfall, or the bay where wildlife can be seen. There is also a tree that has an eagle’s nest, there were two eaglets in it while we were there. I still can’t believe that we hiked to that waterfall that we could see from the living room, that seemed miles away. It sure was quite a treat to start & end each day in the hot tub. Brian does all that he can to accommodate his guests and loves to share his knowledge of the area, which was really appreciated. You can see so much from this lodge, but it is very private and secluded, but close to town. Perfect! We will stay here again. Thanks Brian for everything, you certainly made our stay very special. Amazing View, Amazing Cabin - Whales, Eagles, and
My family has stayed at this cabin several times. It is a great place! We really enjoy the seclusion and the peacefulness that the offers. We love to get up in the morning and sip our coffee in the great room, looking out over Silver Bay watching the whales, sea lions and eagles. The privacy and seclusion of this chalet just can't be beat and yet not too far from many trails and other fun things to do. The chalet itself is beautiful. It is nestled in the woods overlooking the ocean. I love all of the woodwork and the woodstove with glass front is really nice for a romantic evening. You can tell the owner put a lot of thought into the home. The views from every room are fantastic, not to mention the hot tub. We were really surprised sitting in the hot tub one evening as we could hear the whales in the bay. The furniture has been updated since our last trip and the leather couches are a nice touch! This chalet has everything you could need on your vacation. We just show up with our luggage, have a great time and go home. You don't need to worry about dishes, linens, towels, or anything. It is all provided. I ended up working a few days during this trip. The internet was fast and I didn't have any trouble with it. The chalet is clean, well maintained, and the photos provide a good reflection of the chalet. I have already recommended this chalet to many friends and family members and will continue to do so. Thanks for another great vacation!Recommended for: Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, People with Disabilities, Romantic Getaway
We enjoyed our stay very much at the Lodge. It was the PERFECT spot for our family gathering. Comfortable with wonderful views. We enjoyed watching the deer grazing on blueberry bushes in the side yard. Thanks!
Luxury in the woods.
The Sitka chalet is absolutely wonderful! The view is beautiful, the setting is perfect, the owner is more than generous and helpful, the hot tubs are hot, the beds are comfortable, the kitchen is great, the place is clean and well stocked.......overall the perfect place to stay. I highly recommend it. Recommended for: Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
Great stay with a large group!
We had a large group as we brought several youth from Juneau to participate in the Julie Hughes Triathlon. Brian was very accommodating and allowed us to have additional people in the house. We had some of the kids on the living room floor with sleeping bags, but there were certainly enough beds for all of the adults. The kitchen was excellent for making all of our meals and we loved the grill for a BBQ one night. There are two hot tubs, which were thoroughly enjoyed! There is great yard space for kids to play and roam. It is a much better alternative to a hotel or condo if you have kids. Would be wonderful for a group of adults as well. The views are spectacular. This lodge is also very close to the bear sanctuary. I have been to Sitka several times, but have never been to the sanctuary. It was very interesting and fun for the kids. If you've never been to Sitka, it is an amazingly beautiful place with lots of great hikes and great kayaking. Brian is exceptionally accommodating and is a wonderful host. He was sure to check in with us to make sure we had everything we needed and was available to contact as needed. We were very comfortable and had an fabulous stay. Thank you!! I would highly recommend this lodge.Recommended for: Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children
Happy in Sitka!
We had a wonderful vacation at the Golden Alaska Lodge. The views were incredible and the lodge itself was clean and well appointed. We were there for 10 days and had friends from California and our daughter, son in law and two grandkids there at different times. There was plenty of room for everyone, however for that many people two showers would be a great addition. We had one small problem while we were there and the owner took care of it immediately with no disruption to our stay. Thanks Brian, hope to see you again in the future.Recommended for: Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Romantic Getaway
Very nice, very comfortable! Greatly enjoyed the view, privacy, and especially the eagles. We were surprised by the number & size of the albino banana slugs in the yard - totally friendly. No bears. We plan on staying there again next year.
wonderful location and view.
What a wonderful location and view. Ocean, spectacular mountains, and bald eagles right out the back door. Great main room to visit with friends. When whale watching, we could see whales from the ocean side right in front of the cabin. Cooking and utensils all available. It was great and we had a memorable experience. As for recommendations, there was only one shower with five of us and the bathroom upstairs wasn't closed off. We didn't ever figure out how to put something up to cover the opening. Other than that, it was great. We appreciated the car service as well.
Excellent vacation chalet!
Excellent vacation chalet! Loved every minute and appreciated all of the attention to detail ( books, kitchen supplies, laundry supplies, bathroom hair dryer, binoculars, cooking supplies, brochures left on the counters). It truly was a vacation trip of a lifetime!!! We would highly recommend this chalet to anyone who is looking to rent a vacation home in Sitka. Everything went smoothly and easily!
The accomodations were reallly great. The vista is outstanding. It was especially neat when the bald eagle flew over us while in the hot tub.The owner was particularly nice to us.Were ready to come again.
